Alman Seyyam Sugar Mills (Pvt) Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2016 with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC), to establish a new industrial set-up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In terms of the MoU KPEZDMC will provide Alman Seyyam (Pvt) Limited with consultancy services from inception till the completion of the project, including obtaining all regulatory approvals from relevant provincial and federal authorities.

Under this MoU Alman Seyyam Sugar Mills (Pvt) Limited is establishing a state of the art sugar mills, with a crushing capacity of 9,000 TCD in Dera Ismail Khan. The sugar mills will directly employ 700 skilled and unskilled labor, with around 3,000 indirect jobs from the district.

Besides the 9,000 tonnes sugarcane crushing capacity mills, the Company is also installing an independent BTG (Boiler Turbine Generator) unit, with electricity production capacity of 34.5 MW.

Mr. Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh and Engineer Said Mahmood are the two sponsors of the sugar mills project.

Mr. Yaqoob is a successful businessman, a recognized individual in the industry of logistics and the Principal Owner of Pyramid Logistics Private Limited. He is involved in the import of poultry products from USA and supplying it to the Afghanistan market through transit trade. He also imports refined sugar form Brazil and supplies it to Afghanistan and CIS countries. Whereas, Engr. Said is the owner of Haris Enterprises and also the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Tajikistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He exports about 80,000 tonnes of cement to Afghanistan and CIS countries monthly and is a big trader of cotton from Uzbekistan to Pakistan and neighboring countries. They also deal in various other commodities and food related items in the CIS countries and Afghanistan.

The Company being a Special Economic Zone enterprise will be exempt from all import duties on the import of Plant & Machinery, and income tax for a period of 10 years, giving it an edge over its competitors.

The location of the proposed project i.e. Dera Ismail Khan is one of the major sugarcane producing area in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is located 370 Kms from the capital Islamabad and 446 Kms from Lahore.

The Company has acquired 116 acres of land for the project, which is adjacent to the CPEC Western Corridor – Section Zhob – D. I. Khan. The construction for various sections of the project is under way and major equipment and machinery has been ordered and down payments have been made. All the critical items of plant and equipment for sugar mills and power plant are under advanced stages of manufacture.
